Mildred Trauger's tender pecan butter ball cookies — a buttery shortbread dough rolled with finely chopped pecans, baked, and dusted in powdered sugar.

Eliza's Grandmother's Pecan Butter Balls

Ingredients

  • 2 cups flour
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 cups finely chopped pecans
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

Method

  1. Sift flour, sugar, and salt; work in the butter and vanilla. Add 2 cups of nuts; mix well.
  2. Shape into 1-inch balls. Bake on a cookie sheet at 325°F for 25 minutes.
  3. Roll in powdered sugar.
